Trades Assistant – Lube Bay
About The Role
Reporting to the
Supervisor - Lube Bay, the Trades Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Lube Bay by assisting in the lubrication, maintenance, and servicing of heavy machinery and equipment. You will work closely with the trades team to ensure that all equipment is serviced efficiently and that operational downtime is minimized. This position is essential in maintaining a safe, clean, and effective work environment within the Lube Bay.
In This Role, You Will
- Assist in the lubrication and maintenance of heavy machinery and equipment.
- Ensure all equipment pre starts are carried out before starting work
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and safely
- Perform routine inspections of maintenance tools or equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment
- Assist with the preparation and cleaning of work areas, ensuring they are kept clean, organized, and free from hazards
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols while working and adhere to company policies and regulations at all times
- Participate in training programs and skill development initiatives to enhance technical knowledge and proficiency
- Uphold high standards of health and safety awareness, ensuring compliance with NPL’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all safety procedures.
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- Minimum of Grade 10 or above educational level
- Able to read and write English at an Upper Secondary School Standard
- Been through Job Ready Program or Trade Training Programs
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Willingness to adhere to safety regulations and protocols.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from Supervisors and Tradesperson
- Physically fit and able to work in different weather conditions
- Fluency in English and/or Tok Pisin.
Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG National Award position, a site-based role on a Walk in Walk out arrangement with rotation of 14 days on and 7 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Must a Local Porgeran (Cat 1A – SML, Cat 1B –LMP or Cat 2 – Other Porgera) candidate and available to start immediately. Females are encouraged to apply.
